How much is your T.I.M.E. worth and how do you make it more valuable? We need to remember that T.I.M.E. is a very valuable commodity. Sometimes we do not realize how much T.I.M.E. we waste in a day, a week, a month or even a year. Everyone who lives in an urbanized community, understands that we do not have enough time to do everything we must or need to do. Often we are caught up in a rat race, which allows us to believe that we have all the time in the world to do whatever we want. But in reality, we all have our responsibilities to uphold, which takes time. We have: -Jobs/Careers to maintain or to actively seek employment -Relationships to develop and grow -Financial Obligations -to give ourselves time for personal development -to find time for leisure to relax the mind and body We sometimes have so much going on in our lives that we forget or do not know how to prioritize what is really important to us. “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.” --Stephen Covey-- Here is a 4 step process to help you appreciate and add value to your T.I.M.E. Always remember to take the time to: 1) Think things through: Your day, week, month and year will go a lot more smoothly if you take the time to plan out your goals and be honest with yourself about what kind of results you wish to achieve. You need to create realistic blueprints with specific steps on how to achieve your goals. Also ask important questions such as : -What kind of lifestyle do I want for myself and families in 1 or 3 or 5 years? -What is my true passion and can I make it into a career? -What are my projections for my financial goals? 2) Improve: Nobody wants to stay stagnant in their career, life or relationships. We all want to grow and develop as a person, professional, parent and friend. What areas in my life do I need to work on and improve? -Health -Finance -Relationship -Career -Education -Personal Development -Skills -ETC…the list goes on and on 3) Manage: “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” -Alan Lakein Do you use any tools to help you manage your time more effectively? -Smartphones, Iphones -Calendars -Planners -Microsoft Outlook, Google Chrome -One of the best method is to keep a pen and paper in your pocket and make a list of things to do in priority sequence and just tick them off as soon as you finish a task. You will be amazed at how much more productive and efficient you will be with your T.I.M.E. when you make a list of things to do and DO IT. We need to look in the mirror and be truthful to ourselves. What do I feel is the most important thing to achieve today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year? 4) Experience: Like I mentioned above, we are so caught up in the vicious rat race cycle and we forget to step back to enjoy the simple things in life such as; –A walk in the park or beach -A good movie -Family time -Friend(s) time -Good food -Great conversations with family or friends -Enjoying “alone” time with yourself. This is often overlooked because we are constantly interacting with people everyday If you have read this far, I appreciate and thank you for your T.I.M.E.
